Guillermo Vázquez Consuegra participates in the exhibition “The Architects’ Journey” in Barcelona.
As part of the celebrations for Barcelona 2026, World Capital of Architecture, Guillermo Vázquez Consuegra is participating in the exhibition “El viatge dels arquitectes, ‘el món a la punta del llapis i el pinzell’” (The Architects’ Journey, ‘the world at the tip of the pencil and brush’). The exhibition, hosted by the H2O Gallery (Carrer de Verdi, 152, Barcelona), includes a carefully curated selection of sketches by Guillermo Vázquez Consuegra. The official opening will take place on March 26, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. The event is an initiative supported by UNESCO and the UIA, organized by Arquitectes per l’Arquitectura and the Fondation Le Corbusier, and has the collaboration of various institutional entities. “I like to draw while traveling as a way of learning to see, of deepening my gaze, of penetrating the life of things. Knowing how to see, Siza wrote, is the architect’s best weapon. It’s about looking where others don’t look, observing the hidden side, the unseen face, the interior of things, because things always contain more than they show. Learning to observe is key, because for an architect, erudition simply consists of continuous and attentive observation. Observation, which is the foundation of knowledge.” From EGA magazine, issue 50.

Progress report on the MIA Museum construction in Melfi
The project undertaken by Vázquez Consuegra in Melfi involves the restoration and adaptation of the former San Bartolomé convent (16th century) to transform it into the MIA Museum, an acronym for Museum of Innovations and Arts. The approach combines preservation and architectural modernization. The project begins with a rigorous analysis of the existing structure, identifying its spatial, structural, and urban values as the foundation for the new design. Over the past few months, the main structural work and consolidation operations have been completed, along with the restoration of significant original elements. Simultaneously, the construction of new architectural elements is progressing, reorganizing the program and improving accessibility, circulation, and overall functionality. The project incorporates contemporary construction and technological solutions that ensure the building’s adaptation to current requirements, adding a new layer of contemporary architecture to the existing structure. The materials and systems employed respond to criteria of precision, restraint, and continuity, reinforcing the dialogue between memory and contemporaneity. As construction progresses, the project begins to define its final spatial configuration more clearly, consolidating an architecture that, through restraint and rigor, seeks to revitalize the building and reinforce its role within the urban context of Melfi. Comprehensive Rehabilitation Works Begin at Castell Nou in Llinars del Vallès
In 2023, the Vázquez Consuegra studio won the competition for the comprehensive rehabilitation of Castell Nou in Llinars del Vallès, transforming it into a multidisciplinary space for exhibitions and offices. The proposed intervention aims not only to restore the building’s historical character through its complete rehabilitation but also to give it a new, cultural and administrative purpose. It is, therefore, a revitalization of the old through contemporary reuse, integrating it into the city’s life cycle. Last Thursday, November 13th, Guillermo Vázquez Consuegra presented the project to the media and attendees, along with Martí Pujol (Mayor of Llinars del Vallès) and Albert Archs (ARCHS Constructora). Open House at the Royal Shipyards of Seville.

This first phase has highlighted the original spaces and laid the groundwork for the second phase of the works, which will continue in the coming months.
