The renovation of the Maritime Museum in Trieste, is progressing with the definition of the interior spaces and the construction of the new structure that organizes the complex. The project begins with the restoration of the existing historic building, highlighting the original materiality of the masonry walls and the clarity of the inherited spaces. A new, clearly differentiated, lightweight metal structure is then superimposed on this foundation, articulating the mezzanine levels, circulation paths, and vertical circulation cores. In the current stage of construction, the relationship between the architecture and the port landscape is becoming increasingly apparent. The new glazed envelope and the intermediate spaces reinforce the visual connection with the sea, integrating the surrounding environment as an active part of the future museum experience.
