The proposal submitted by the team comprised of the consulting firm WSP SPAIN APIA, the studio of GUILLERMO VÁZQUEZ CONSUEGRA, and the studio EOVASTUDIO has won the competition for drafting the preliminary design for integrating the railway into the city of Granada and the basic design for the expansion and improvement of the station. The project received an exceptional score of 47.24 points out of a maximum of 49, positioning itself as the proposal with the highest technical and architectural quality among all the bidders. The proposed intervention transcends the scale of the railway infrastructure to propose a powerful green corridor that will traverse the city. This large public park will bridge the historical gap left by the railway, fostering a spatial connection between the established city center and the new urban areas, based on criteria of sustainability, bioclimatic design, and the promotion of active mobility.
